Spring Flying - 2006 - Cloud 9 Field, Webberville, Mi.

The 2006 season started off with a wonderful week of sunny weather and the weekend was awesome with two days of super soaring. Although there were no cumulous clouds visible there was abundant lift for much of the two days. Many pilots staked up for as much as three hours each day and on Saturday many were up to 5,000 feet and on Sunday many pilots were getting up to 6,500 feet so there were lots of happy pilots at the end of each day. A few new WW U-2 gliders were being tested by their owners and they were thrilled with the performance and then Floyd and Marlene Cadwell came out on Sunday and Floyd had a new to him Atos V and although Floyd had not flown the glider before, he did a excellent job of showing us how well the rigids can fly. On Saturday evening Tracy Tillman and Mark Bolt flew the new AL-12 Sailplane and it was spectacular floating around in zero lift. We could not have asked for a better first weekend 2006 and look forward to many more this summer. Check out the photos below.
